    Description

    Rare Vintage MME Alexander 7" Tiny Betty Russian Doll.  From the research I have done, I believe she is a composite doll, with painted socks and shoes and facial features, and attached mohair wig. She stands approximately 7 inches tall.  She has the MME ALEXANDER on her back.  No tags on the dress.  Dress has a red skirt, white top with embroidered flowers on the sleeves and neckline.  Tie-on apron with lace border.  Tulle underskirt.  Elastic waist capris underneath.  Matching hat with elastic chin strap with red embroidery around the border. She does have some crazing lines in her arm and thigh areas where the arms and legs attach to the torso.  The black paint on her shoes has chipped away in a few spots.  Her clothing has worn over time.  The red ribbon has a small hole in the first layer.  The white tulle has darkened in areas over time.  Her under skirt of tulle had a safety pin closure -- I removed it as it will not close and can scratch the composite on the doll.  Doing some research, it looks like she dates to the 1930s.  I am not an expert on dolls at all, so I have tried to point out her condition issues, and please see pictures.  I am happy to answer any questions you may have.  This pretty little doll was an estate find of a truly spectacular doll collection. I acquired a large quantity of dolls and folk art items that I am making my way through and listing.  I am including the doll stand she was displayed on.  I don't think it is original to the doll, but I will include it.
