Description
This is a wonderful, original rare 1930s set of composition Dionne quintuples. The rocker is not pictured in any Madame Alexander doll book; it is that rare. Doll maker, Madame Alexander got the license from Canada exclusively to produce them. She was the only one with that privilege. The girls were born to a poor farming family on May 28, 1936 when their father was to have them exhibited in the Worlds Fair, the Canadian government stepped in and took them from their parents and put them up for exhibition. Their legacy is well written.The 5 dolls have side glance brown eyes. Two of the dolls eyes are missing some paint. There is no lifting in the composition but there are several scratches. They have very vibrant lips in the rose bud shape. They are loosely strung. Their hair is painted on and they are marked Madame Alexander on their backs. Their untagged dresses are very vibrant in color with no damage. The extra rompers are in great shape. Only one is tagged. The hats all have the doily on top though some hats have shorter ties than others due to age and wear. The pins are all original. The blue set is missing the blanket.
The boxes are very well made reproductions. I thought the next owner of this set would like them.
The Swan rocker photographed has notables. Marie and Yvonne's names are partially rubbed off. There is a tiny piece of wood missing under these names. There is repair to the seat where Marie sits;
looks like it was repaired with scotch tape.
This lot includes:
5 compo baby dolls stamped MME on back
5 outfits original untagged with their metal name tag pins (on dolls) - original
5 baby romper sets with hats - original, 1 tagged only
1 swan wooden rocker - original
5 boxes - NOT original

Please ask any questions you have as this set is non-returnable because of their rarity and age. I have done my best to describe the most I can with what I think I see and everybody would be interested in but I cannot know what is important to each individual person.
I can have my daughter text more photos upon request.
Please again ask for more information to help you make a decision whether to purchase or not. I am happy with any and all requests. This is an amazing set for its age and rarity. Good luck!
